ENERTEC- Bio-Solids Project
Construction has commenced on the $160 million project and on May 14th the City and EnerTech held a groundbreaking ceremony for the premier full scale biosolids processing facility that will convert biosolids and other high-moisture wastes into a renewable energy source called E-Fuel™. EnerTech is a waste conversion and renewable energy company whose patented “SlurryCarb” Process converts municipal sewage sludge (i.e., biosolids) into a renewable fuel. EnerTech plans to build its bio-solids processing facility on approximately 8.8 acres of land at the Rialto Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is located at 501 East Santa Ana Avenue. The Rialto SlurryCarb™ facility will produce approximately 145 tons of renewable E-Fuel™ per day from biosolids supplied by five municipalities in the region. The E-Fuel™ will be used by a local cement kiln as a renewable alternative to coal. EnerTech’s Rialto is expected to be fully operational by the third quarter of 2008. The Phase One Project consists of three main buildings: (1) the main process structure which includes an open air, two level building housing most of the process equipment, (2) an administrative/laboratory building, and (3) a maintenance shop and warehouse building. Silos for storage of bio-solid products will also be constructed. The Project will employ approximately 15-20 full time employees upon completion and represents a $160 million investment in plant and equipment.
